SUMMARY
According to the Gallup organization, only 32% of U.S. employees are considered “engaged.” Another 18% are actively disengaged – that’s nearly one out of every five workers. These trends are costing employers dearly. Disengaged employees drag down productivity. Frustrated with a lack of movement and accountability, top employees leave. Those who remain burn out. The churn, burnout and disengagement affect the bottom line. The pressure is on HR to find solutions. At the heart of employee disengagement – and most team conflict – is a lack of clarity about roles. While job descriptions spell out individual expectations, they rarely clarify how different members of a team or organization are meant to work together. The results are droppedballs, bad handoffs and duplicated efforts – all of which feed employee frustration, and eventual disengagement. In this session we will introduce tools that HR can provide to Mid-Level and Front-Line leaders to address this situation. As a result, you’ll know what you can do to help teams work together more effectively, in ways that build trust, increase engagement and satisfaction among employees.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Explain what leaders can do to communicate expectations more clearly, so everyone on the team knows what they need to do.

- Describe key concepts managers can use to be more effective with their employees, for example when setting direction and giving feedback.

- Analyze – or coach a manager to analyze - a team’s workload to identify gaps or imbalances that could get in the way of top performance.
